NO PRIVATE INTERPRETATION ALLOWED

NO PRIVATE INTERPRETATION ALLOWED

2 Peter 1:16-21
(16) For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
(17) For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
(18) And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
(19) We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
(20) Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
(21) For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

CHOOSE CAREFULLY
As I was studying certain aspects of history, I came across a really nice website that gives an attractive, easy to use and easy to understand timeline. However, I was pretty sure that I recognized the "personality" of the organization behind the website. After searching for some time, I finally came across some info that seemed to confirm my suspicions. Still, I don't jump to conclusions, so I continued to read and search. Hiding its identity is normal for this group, just as hiding some of their more warped beliefs. Finally I found the information I needed. It was a site promoting Seventh Day Adventism.

I realize this does not bother some folks, but if you are wanting to be Biblical, you are not wanting to accept the SDA as your spiritual instructor.

(This is only coincidentally related to Dr. Ben Carson. My study and my article is not aimed at him. I neither endorse nor condemn Dr. Carson as a candidate for POTUS).

BACK TO MY POST
There are several problems with accepting the SDA as a viable teacher of Biblical Christianity.

SDA has accepted the teachings of a person (other than the writers of the Holy Bible) Ellen Gould White. Though she professed belief in several Biblical/Christian truths, she interpreted passages from the Book of Revelation in a unique and contradictory fashion. The passages are from the messages of the angels but the interpretations are anything but angelic.

Here are some of the errors of SDA. I will not take the time to refute these points here, though they are easily addressed.
* The imposition of Jewish dietary laws and the focus on ceremonial law keeping in general as part of the Christian experience. This leads to further bondage to legalism.
* The Sabbath (seventh day observance) is binding on everyone. In fact, SDA claims that anyone who worships on Sunday is taking the Mark of the Beast.
* The soul is not immortal and there is no hell or eternal punishment.
* The soul goes to sleep at the time of death and then is raised for the judgment.
* The judgment of believers will take place at the so-called "investigative judgment," which began at the supposed second coming, which never took place. There is no such judgment in the Bible.
* The "Investigative Judgment" will result in the sins being placed on Satan, who will carry them away. The SDA, through manipulation of linguistics interprets the devil as our "sin bearer."

DLG says,
This may not seem very important to the Biblically illiterate, but these false doctrines not only separate and condemn true believers from the faith and salvation of Christ (according to SDA), these false doctrines also undermine some basic Biblical revelation that is essential to Biblical faith.

I did not address these errors here. I have addressed some of them and I will respond to honest and serious inquiries.
