THE REAL ABSURDITY
Imagine that a person was born with an abnormality, which caused him to have pain, bleeding and repulsive discharges. As the years passed the condition worsened to an unbearale level. The man then goes to the doctor and discovers that a simple and safe procedure will solve the problem and make him healthier and more productive than he has ever been. Though the man's sickness is robbing him of health, comfort and pleasure, and it is a constant burden and stress to his family, he refuses to have the treatment. His condition deteriorates more rapidly, but he continues to reject help.
THIS IS ABSURD.

Now imagine a Christian struggling with inward rebellion, doubt, turmoil. He hears that God will cleanse and deliver him from his Double Mindedness and give a miraculous boost to his joy, peace, love and make him more like Jesus and more consistent and productive in his spiritual life than he can even dream. The man is told that his carnality will take an immeasurable toll and eventual destroy him eternally, but he refuses to trust God and surrender to Him.
THIS IS THE REAL ABSURDITY.

One other thing.
We would not expect the man to attack and hate his doctor or those who want to help him, but you can count on the carnal believer being antagonistic to the message of holiness and becoming resentful of the messenger and the proponents of holiness of heart and life.
