Before spiritual growth there must be spiritual life. This is why Jesus said, "You must be born again."
Spiritual life is the gift of God, which we receive by:
Acknowledging that we have sinned and deserve God's judgment.
Believing Christ died and rose from the dead to save us from our sins.
Confessing our sins to Christ, and confessing Christ as our Lord.
Departing from sin and following Christ.
PRESUMPTION IS NOT FAITH
If we do not have the assurance that we are saved, if we are not certain that we have been born again, we could be replacing faith with presumption, and presumption does not save.
If you want to get a physical checkup, you go to a medical doctor.
If you want to get a car inspection, you go to an automotive mechanic.
If you want to get a spiritual assessment, you go to a Christ following, Spirit filled, Bible believing pastor.
