Wednesday Night Bible Study

Wednesday Night Bible Study
(Bible survey by studying main characters).

LAST NIGHT
Exodus (ch. 1)... Moses
* Moses was born at a time when the Hebrews were being oppressed by Egypt. Pharaoh demanded the death of newborn Hebrew males (as with Herod and the Christ child in the N.T.), and the enslavement and harsh treatment of the Hebrew people (as with Joseph in Genesis).

* As with Joseph, the intention of the enemies of God is to do harm, to do evil to the people of God, but God uses man's evil for the good of His people (Ge. 50:20).

* God is not the author of evil, but He has greater power than our enemy. In the New Testament we are told that all things work together for good to them that love God, who are called according to His purpose (Ro. 8:28).

Evil governments oppress the people of God. We must choose to obey God rather than men (Ac. 5:29).

NOTE...
ELECT IN SIN???

When I refer to the "Elect in sin," I am not saying that they are unilaterally elect, or unconditionally elect, or elect regardless of active and present sin in their lives.

I am saying that the Hebrews in Egyptian bondage present the imagery of Christians who were at one time sinners, separated from God, but then through a walk of faith, they make their "calling and election sure." In other words, as they "work out (their) own salvation with fear and trembling," they move from the realm of sinner to believer.

The elect are not only the called, but the chosen. They are chosen by God, based on their submission to Him through faith.
