I am sorry for those who hate the Old South, just like I am sorry for haters of racial, ethnic, and national people groups. It is possible to hate a people's sins, without hating the people. It is equally wrong to call good, "evil," as it is to call evil, "good."
Though I believe that the USA has been the greatest country on the face of the earth (in spite of its many flaws and sins), my objective is not to make the world become American, my objective is to let the world know that if they believe on Jesus Christ they will be part of His heavenly and eternal kingdom (Mt. 4:17; Mk. 1:15).
Remember, His kingdom is not of this world (Jn. 18:36), which is why Christians do not fight for the political cause of this passing world. Though the kingdoms of this world are often in conflict with the Kingdom of God (Ps. 2:1-3), eventually the kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ (Re. 11:15).
If I go to a foreign shore, regardless of its history, my purpose would be to raise the banner of the love of Jesus rather than the Stars and Stripes, or any other national banner. In trying to reach a people I would address the sins of the people, but I would not seek to convict the people of someone else's sins. In fact, it is not my responsibility to convict anyone. My responsibility is to preach the truth and let God do the convicting (Jn. 16:7-11).
