I try to pastor other people the way I would want someone to pastor my family members. This means loving them when they are unlovely, confronting them when they are in error, teaching them by precept and example, and encouraging them to victory by leading them in the light.
SAD TO SEE
But even when spiritual help is available, it does not ensure that the one adrift will change his/her course. The one adrift may be...
* so exhilarated by the ecstasy of the moment (as a swimmer who is unwarily being carried by an idyllic current),
* or so transfixed by the moment (as a swimmer who is being lured into deeper waters),
* or so determined in the moment (as a swimmer who rejects the warning calls from caring loved ones)...
THAT they eventually get beyond the reach of their rescuers. This is not always because of the limitations of the rescuers but sometimes it is because of the unchanging choice of the drifter.
SAD TO SAY
* There comes a time when even God no longer calls those who are, "set in their way," He, "will not strive with man always."
* A hardened disposition (neck, heart, head) can result in, "being suddenly cut off, and that without remedy."
