Pball, You Need To Check It Out.
(At least read this short post)
Okay, you have forced it out of me. I like to play Pickleball. And, I would like for you to play Pball also, if you are able to play.
It is good for people of various physical and athletic abilities.
It is good for people or all ages.
It is good for exercise.
It is good for socializing.
It is good for family time.
It is good for friendships.
It is good for developing physical condition, flexibility, quickness, coordination.
It is good for developing athletic skills and prowess.
Also, if you start now you will be able to learn and hone your skills so that you will be able to play well against the many others who will eventually start playing, since this is a very popular and growing sport with young and old, with athletes and recreational players, with men and women. It can be played as singles or as doubles.
Let's Face It, most of today's youth are in deplorable physical shape and disconnected from physical competition and teamwork. They need to do something. They also need to know what good clean competition is all about. They need to lose and they need to win. With Pball it does not matter how athletic or well conditioned you are. Pball provides a great entry level experience as well as high intensity competition. Plus, the opportunity for improvement and overall conditioning is extraordinary. I have never seen people's physical condition, mobility and coordination improve more in any other activity.
Pball is not an expensive sport (in fact, it is super in-expensive). If a church has a gymnasium, they should invest the few dollars that will provide immeasurable and safe recreation of people who need the opportunity. If I had a gym, or even a church yard, I would include this activity.
No, I Am Not A Paid Spokesperson. However, I do see the various needs of people and I try to help them make the most of what they have. This is a spiritual concern as well as a physical one. I want you to enjoy good health, as you find and follow Jesus.
IT IS A METAPHOR
This Post Applies to Pball, BUT IT IS NOT JUST ABOUT Pball (regardless of the evidence)
I am a noisy Pball player.
I am vocal.
I am demonstrative.
I am emotional. (not in any negative sense of the word).
I praise others for their good shots, whether teammates or opponents.
I do not criticize others for missing shots.
I do not attack opponents when they make obvious mistakes.
I do not argue over missed calls.
However, I do have pep talks with myself. When I miss a shot I will call myself out, by saying, "DAVID." If my error was really bad I may say, "DAVID, DAVID, DAVID." Then I tell myself what I need to do or not do. When other people start telling me what to do (especially if they are not as good at the game as I am), I tell myself to ignore them and just play my best and have a good time, AND BE A GOOD WITNESS FOR JESUS.
So, Why Do I call myself out?

So, Why Do I call myself out?
Because I expect better from myself.
Because I DON'T THINK I SHOULD EVER MISS A SHOT THAT I TAKE.
Because I expect to succeed.
I do not think I am invincible, but I hold myself to a higher standard than I am sometimes able to maintain.
I don't get down on myself, but I am serious about doing my best.
I laugh, even at my own mistakes, failures, errors.
I am not depressed when I lose.
However,
I still want to be the best, to do the best I can, and I am surprised and disappointed when I fail.
I am competitive.
I don't get angry.
I don't get frustrated, but I do get motivated when I am not performing at my best (which in my mind means, winning).
I like to think that my actions and attitude helps my teammates to play at their best.
I like to think that my actions and attitude helps my teammates to play at their best.
I even like to think that my opponents enjoy playing against me, whether they win or lose.
Well, I really cannot help what others think, but I can determine my own involvement.
2 Corinthians 10:5
(5) Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
Philippians 2:13-15
(13) For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
(14) Do all things without murmurings and disputings:
(15) That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Colossians 3:12-17
(12) Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
(13) Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
(14) And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
(15) And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
(16) Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
(17) And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
