HEY DAD, MOM, THIS IS FOR YOU.
Christian parents need to be good witnesses for Christ. This includes the life of holiness and the act of lifting up Jesus to the world. But it also requires Bible knowledge, spiritual maturity, humility, wisdom, compassion.
Witnessing is not spewing the Four Laws or the Roman Road of Salvation (though there is nothing wrong with using tools), and ramming a 40 pound KJV down someone's throat.
Witnessing is communicating with another person's heart.
Witnessing is one hungry man telling another hungry man where to find food.
Witnessing is throwing the lifeline to those who are lost in the sea of their own sins.
Witnessing is sharing the message of God, in God's way, at God's time.
Witnessing is shining the light of Christ into the darkness of sin and suffering.
Witnessing is becoming a stepping stone rather than a rock thrower.
Witnessing is willingness to be hated and rejected for the message you share, not for sharing the message in a carnal, arrogant, insensitive manner.
A Witness is a Martyr (martus, in the Greek).
It is at this point we can say,
The sinner does not care how much we know,
Until he knows how much we care.
CHILDREN need to see their parents being wise, winsome witnesses.
Children are trained by watching parents.
Children should see parents telling the Good News in a Christlike way.
Children should be learning the ministry of witnessing from Spirit filled parents.
Children should see their parents on a rescue mission in their daily lives.
Children should see their parents burdened for the lost and seeking them for Jesus.
IT MAY BE LATE, BUT IT IS NOT TOO LATE.
If your children have not seen you lovingly throw out the lifeline to the lost, NOW IS THE TIME TO GO; provided you have been to Pentecost first. All witnesses need to be purified and filled by the Holy Spirit. We must be alive to God, but dead to sin. We must go in the power of the Spirit of God, not in the power of the flesh.
