GONE, BUT SOMETHING BETTER IS COMING

GONE, BUT SOMETHING BETTER IS COMING
Sometimes we have the bitter sweet experience of visiting a site of historical or natural significance, just before the site is destroyed by some disaster, either man-made or ecological. It is sweet because we had the opportunity to visit the location, but it is bitter because no one else, including our own family will get to see it.

I regret to say that my grandchildren have never seen the USA and probably never will. Just like other notable sites, the USA had its flaws and weaknesses, but it was still the best human government and nation that this world ever saw. The USA was criticized by our friends as well as our enemies, but when it came to maintaining a balance in the world, and protecting a free people, there was not even a close second.

Well, those who hated USA and longed for a day without our swagger, confidence, support (mistakenly called, "intervention"), leadership and sacrifice of all that we had, congratulations, you have been getting what you want. We have joined the socialist, liberal, anti-Christian nations of the world, and we probably will not return to our place of exceptionalism (which some denied verbally, but actually they envied).

The USA was founded upon solid rock principles and guided by the highest of ideals. We faltered from time to time, and we also took occasionally (very rarely) a detour in the wrong direction (but usually we would get back on track). We finally lost our way when we followed the nations of the world in rejecting the Bible as the ultimate authority of Divine revelation, and we rejected the freedom to worship Christ. (Shake you head in disagreement all you want to, but it happened).

Sadly, I don't believe we will see our former glory. However, it is not too late for individuals to call on Jesus to forgive their rebellion and to yield to His Lordship. Those who turn to Him in saving faith will ultimately see the extreme greatness of a people ruled by the King of kings. But until then, we must, "occupy" 'till He comes back.

Luke 19:10-14
(10) For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.
(11) And as they heard these things, he added and spake a parable, because he was nigh to Jerusalem, and because they thought that the kingdom of God should immediately appear.
(12) He said therefore, A certain nobleman went into a far country to receive for himself a kingdom, and to return.
(13) And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come.
(14) But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him, saying, We will not have this man to reign over us.
