I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD NOT SAY HITLER WAS NOT ONE OF THE ELECT.
You cannot tell if a person is a Christian, simply because they DO NOT get drunk or get high on drugs, live in open adultery, physically or sexually abuse people, lie or steal, blaspheme God, scandalize, liable or deceive people, or whatever else is contrary to decent behavior (1 Tm. 1:8-11).
But you can tell if a person is not a Christian if they ARE DOING those things. Christian behavior is guided by the higher standards of the Bible (Ps. 119:11), and empowered by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (Ro. 8:5; Ga. 5:16, 6:8). Christians do not produce bad fruit with their lives, they do produce good fruit with their lives (Ro. 6:19-22).
SAY WHAT?
I have made comment that the wicked life of a person indicates their need for salvation, and people have told me that I should not judge others. I pointed out that I was not judging them; that their own open misbehavior was judging their lives and that in their present condition, the subject of the discussion was no more saved than Hitler. At that point I was told that I could not say Hitler was not saved because we cannot know who the elect are. I responded by saying that if Hitler did not repent and believe on Christ in his last moments before death (which I strongly doubt), then Hitler died and is in hell at this very moment. Still, the person said that our actions have nothing to do with our election.
Those who are saved, those who are part of the elect, do not live their lives in disobedience to God, if they truly are saved. This is why we are enjoined to make our "election sure" (2 Pe. 1:10).
Do not be deceived, sinful behavior indicates a sinful heart. He that commits sin is of the devil (1 Jn. 3:8). He that does righteousness is righteous, even as Christ is righteous (1 Jn. 3:7).
