A COMMON ORIGIN, POLLUTED

A COMMON ORIGIN, POLLUTED
The reason that the myths and religions around the world are so similar to one another is because they all hived off of the truth of Divine revelation. The family of Noah is the original source of present day beliefs, both the true and the false. The chain of authority for truth is the Bible, as God spoke to Adam, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Job, Moses, the prophets of the Old Testament, Jesus Christ (the perfect revelation of God, He. 1:1-3), and finally, the Apostles and prophets of the New Testament (Ep. 2:20; 2 Pe. 3:2).

After the flood, Noah was the repository of Divine truth, since he lived in the grace of God, he was a righteous man, perfect in his generation and he walked with God (Ge. 6:8-9). It was because of Noah's relationship with God that his family was spared from being destroyed by the flood (Ge. 6:17-19). He communicated the revelation of God to his family, but they did not receive or communicate the same truths to their families. It appears that Shem did worship the true and living God (Jehovah), at least for a while (Ge. 9:26), and did convey Noah's teachings to his descendants, though they did not adhere to them fully and eventually fell away. Japheth appears to have had a reverence and knowledge of God (Elohim), if not a personal relationship with Him (Ge. 9:27). There is no indication that Ham had a reverence for the God of Noah.

All of Noah's family settled in lower Mesopotamia for a while (Ge. 11:2), commingling their DNA and physical traits, as well as their own ideas about God. They all chose to worship their own gods and develop their own beliefs, which resulted in God confusing their language (Ge. 11:3-9). They then scattered to the far reaches of the globe (Ge. 10:25, 32), carrying with them the same false doctrines, but expressed them in different ways, and with different words and names, as different cultures developed around the world. This commonality of pagan and heathen belief and practice is found in the corrupted teachings of the families of Shem, Ham and Japheth (Ro. 1:21-25).

There are various, but similar stories, of creation, a major flood, and astrology, found from China to the jungles of South America, as well as found in the records of extinct communities, because they are variations, corruptions of the common truth that God revealed through Noah to his sons.
