ANOTHER DISH
I would not deliberately ingest something that I knew was poisonous, nor would I offer it to other people. Yet people willingly and willfully attend churches, read books, watch programs, listen to speakers, go to Bible studies that teach damnable heresies, such as;
* we have no choice in our salvation,
* our sin does not separate us from God,
* God does not separate us from our sin.
* we cannot live victoriously over sin in this present evil world.
* Christ did not die for all sinners.
Deceived And Deceiving
Not only do they subject themselves to such teaching and preaching, they invite, lead and encourage other people to ingest these false doctrines. Some people do these things because they do not realize that the source from which they receive this instruction adheres to these heresies. They unwittingly are feeding on a different gospel.
If people were no more cautious of their physical diet than they are of their spiritual and intellectual diet, they would have been poisoned to death a long time ago. Even if a person has enough truth in his or her own life to resist the negative influence of false doctrine, they should not be leading others to the slaughter. Why would you eat at Ptomaine Tina's Tea Room, when you can eat at Safe Sally's Smorgasbord? Why would you let Typhoid Mary prepare your food or feed your friends?
We need to know what our teachers, mentors, leaders are feeding us. We need to ask questions about the spiritual fare they are dishing-up to us. We need to feed on that which is Biblically and spiritually wholesome, regardless of the trappings and the popularity, and the cost that goes with it. We need to lead people into the truth, since it is only the truth that sets us free.
