A DECIDED DETERMINATION

A DECIDED DETERMINATION
(along with a holy forget'r)

The Next Step
After we have been forgiven, cleansed, regenerated, and by faith we leave our past in the past, we need to reset our course. After we set our course, we need to do whatever is necessary to stay on course. As we go along in life, we will encounter storms, ill winds, rogue waves, dark skies, navigational hazards, which can throw us off course, which requires us to make adjustments in our course, to reach our desired destination. This is where we need to remember that we have not yet arrived or attained to the end of our faith, which is the resurrection of the righteous. After changing our course and leaving our old life behind we need to reach, stretch, strain in order to reach the things that await us as believers.

Philippians 3:13
(13) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do...reaching forth unto those things which are before,

A Clear Vision
A clear understanding of our calling, a clear vision of our destination is essential (Ph. 2:12). We need to have a Biblical view of life, of eternal life, of the Christian life, of the life after death. This is best obtained by having a solid foundation in Biblical truth and a firm relationship with God. If we are not sure of our new course, our new destination, we will not know how to set our course, we will not know what dangers to avoid or what precautions to take, we will not know what preparations to make, we will not know when our course has been compromised (1 Co. 9:24-27).

A Journey Of Love
We get our orders from God, and the closer we are to God, the clearer will be our understanding and the firmer will be our determination. The more we know Him and the more we focus on our final destination, the more eager we will be to reach it. The more time we spend with the Captain of our soul, the wiser we will be concerning our journey. Our vision will be more than an obligation, it will be an opportunity. It will be a driving force (He. 12:1-2).

Uncompromising Commitment
The Greek text indicates the exerted endeavor to reach for the end prize. The person in this passage is not complacent, disinterested, half-hearted. He is thoroughly involved, committed to each port of call as he heads to his home port (2 Co. 2:14).

(I hope to address the nature of the final objective in another post)
