"SELAH." (Meditate on this, then act on it).

"SELAH." (Meditate on this, then act on it).

Sometimes, when we help others over the obstructions of life, we anticipate the possibility that they will also help us. This is seen when one person boosts a friend over a wall and then they are puled over by that friend. This is not necessarily a bad thing. But the Biblical concept of honoring others ahead of self is demonstrated by one swimmer saving another person from drowning, at the peril of being drowned.

Remember, it is not just the act, it is the attitude that matters. It should not be done simply out of a sense of obligation, or in a spirit of pride, or begrudgingly. It should be done in the spirit of love, with meekness and joy.

We need more SELFLESSNESS in the church. The life, ministry and death of Jesus was not for Himself, but for others, His friends and His enemies. This comes when we die to self, rather than by improving self. It is not a matter of overcoming selfishness, it is a matter of being delivered from the self orientation of the Old Man. Then it is a matter of holding onto pure motivation by walking in light, feeding on truth and keeping ourselves in the love of God.
