2 Tm. 3:6 A difficult verse,

2 Timothy 3:6
A difficult verse,
but I think this should help. (I am not saying you will like it).
2 Timothy 3:6
(6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

The entire passage (2 Tm. 3:1-9) is addressing the debauchery of society during the "perilous times" of the "last days." After a list of depraved conditions that will exist at the end of this present evil age, God tells us that there will be deceivers who creep stealthily, sneak unobtrusively into a house and captivate women who are weighed down with guilt, desires, thoughts that are in conflict with the will of God.

I have not really dealt with this verse very much through the years, because I believe it is saying more than just the obvious, which applies to any and all other periods of human history. I believe it is true concerning cultists who visit in homes and mislead women into their false doctrines. But it is more than that. This verse needs to be understood in the context of the, "last days," since that is what the passage indicates. So, what are the conditions that contribute to these women being silly, or foolish or small minded? What circumstances will exist, which will cause these women to be, "laden with sin," or have sins "heaped on them?"

This is your first opportunity to disagree with my analysis. I believe this is speaking of the time, which is specific to the "last days," just as the internet is time specific to this present time. Remember, in my previous post concerning this passage I pointed out that the verse, which says, "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth" can indicate the vast amount of information (both true and false) available to everyone. However, as the Preacher wrote,
Ecclesiastes 12:12
(12) And further, by these, my son, be admonished: of making many books there is no end; and much study is a weariness of the flesh.

With all of the information available on the web (and television) today, a person can certainly be "ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth." But how does that apply to these, "silly women?"

Here is a second opportunity to disagree with me. False teachers abound, but they do not always come as "religious" teachers. They come as educators, business gurus, social engineers, family planners, economic advisers, political pundits. Women today are being fed the lie that they can be "Super Woman," that is, top level successes in career and mothering. IT AIN'T SO. Simply because any energy divided between two demanding objectives will never get the best results from either one.

Women have been duped into believing that they can give anywhere from five to eight of the best hours of the day to outside work and still be the best mothers they can be, by giving their leftovers to their children. (I realize that some mothers have no choice about working outside of the home, because of dire circumstances). Forget being Super Woman, modern woman has bought into the lie that she should "fulfill herself," in every way besides the Biblical way of being the full time, fully dedicated mother to her children and wife to her husband.

But the misleading of the electronic age is not limited to making women feel guilty about being "housewives and mothers", it is not limited to luring wives and mothers into the workforce, away from their primary and most important role of "homemaker." There are untold numbers of women who are supposedly stay at home, moms, embracing their electronic lovers, as if addicted to some drug. Even though they are in the home, they are giving away time and energy to "ever learning" or "staying in touch" or "reaching out" when they ought to be spending their energy on their actual God given responsibilities.

Through electronic instrumentality, Satan has stealthily slipped into the home, he has demanded the time, energy, adoration, and commitment of women, and has become an essential part of their lives. Women have been laden down with guilt for just being "housewives," they have been drawn after the masses seeking fame, fortune, fulfillment, by abandoning God's call and direction for their lives and have made unholy alliances, while in the comfort and privacy of the own homes. This is what makes them silly women, laden down with sins and led away captive," to a variety of lusts, unholy desires.

And here is your third opportunity to disagree with me. The modern age of anti-Bible philosophy, joined with mass communications that creeps stealthily into houses, has also led the females to turn from the natural and holy use of their bodies and relationships to the aberrant. Women are becoming more antagonistic to men. Not only do they reject any and all authority (whether male of female) women are rejecting the idea that the norm in life is for a husband and a wife to become one flesh, and that the husband is to love his wife as Christ loves the Church, and the wife is to obey the husband as the Church should obey Christ. The present day turning to homosexuality is being promoted electronically to the point that women say they only need a man to help them make a baby, which she alone has the right to kill because she does not want it.

ALL OF THIS DECEPTION CAPTURES THROUGH THE INVITED INVADERS OF ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS.

Here is the passage...
2 Timothy 3:1-9

(1) This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
(2) For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
(3) Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
(4) Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
(5) Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
(6) For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
(7) Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
(8) Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith.
(9) But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was.
