CHOOSE YE THIS DAY

CHOOSE YE THIS DAY
If I was a missionary on foreign soil, I would still have an appreciation and a specific loyalty to America, but I would not be a missionary for America or "free enterprise" or "capitalism" or "democracy." I would not be trying to convert people to a governmental, economic, philosophical point of view. I would not take up arms or raise my voice against the nationals, even if they were antagonistic to America. My objective would be to present Christ and Hiskingdom in a way that would lead people to believe on Christ as their Savior.

I love my country (on a human and temporal level). I love my Southern heritage (on a human and temporal level), but my loyalty is, has been and will be to Christ and His kingdom. As a Christian, I can, and I should be a good citizen of whichever country I am a part. But my allegiance belongs unreservedly to Christ and His kingdom. My message is concerning Christ and His kingdom. My life belongs to Christ and His kingdom.

Christians that are willing to sacrifice other people, especially other Christians, because of political disputes, are making a major mistake. This is true concerning the arguments over the Union and Confederacy dispute. There were atrocities and achievements on both sides. Even if a person does not agree with the history of the event or with the principles of the division (based on their own point of view), Christians should not cut off or demean other people because of worldly governments.

I am aware of some of the dark past, which is associated with both the USA and the CSA; I am partial to the high principles represented by both the Stars and Stripes and the Stars and Bars, but the banner over my life is CHRIST and His LOVE. I love my fellow travelers and even those who are enemies of the cross. It is in the sign of the cross and in the power of the resurrection that I seek to defeat darkness and set the captive free from Satan and the power of sin.

Christ's kingdom is not of this world; and neither is mine.
Abraham sought a better country, and a city, not made with hands, whose architect and builder is God; and so should I.
