SALVATION FOR THE WHOLE MAN.

SALVATION FOR THE WHOLE MAN.
Since the whole man has been infected and affected by sin, the whole man (body, soul and spirit) needs salvation. While we are not yet glorified, our whole being is included in the work of present day redemption.
1 Thessalonians 5:23
23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Not Resurrection Perfection
This does not mean that we live in a redeemed world or that we have resurrection perfection. Redemption includes the salvation we enjoy now, but redemption includes our future state of glorification also. Therefore our outer man awaits the redemption afforded through the resurrection.
Romans 8:23
23 not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
Ephesians 1:14
(14) Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Philippians 3:11-14
(11) If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead.
(12) Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
(13) Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
(14) I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

Present Day Limitations
Our inner man, at the present time, also contends with limitations, infirmities and weaknesses (not to be confused with sin). Our bodies and our souls suffer from earth bound problems, yet God provides grace to overcome these trials.
2 Corinthians 12:9-10
(9) And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
(10) Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
Hebrews 4:15
15 we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin

Choosing Our Master
Through our present day salvation, God empowers and enables us to live victoriously over sin, through whole man salvation.
Romans 6:12-19
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. note
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
19 I speak after the manner of men because of the infirmity of your flesh: for as ye have yielded your members servants to uncleanness and to iniquity unto iniquity; even so now yield your members servants to righteousness unto holiness.

Disciplined Minds
Salvation for the whole man includes God's power and grace in our thinking.
2 Corinthians 10:5
5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Present Day Victory
Though we live in an unredeemed world, and we are awaiting final and ultimate deliverance, God enables us to live as redeemed people in this present evil world. Salvation makes it possible to bring our soul (reason, desire, emotion, conscience, and will) into submission to our spiritual man, just as we are able to to bring the physical man into subjection. We should not be ruled by evil propensities of the body or the soul.
Galatians 1:3-4
(3) Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,
(4) Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:

Good News For Bad Times
I share this thought because I want to encourage others to experience and enjoy whole man salvation, rather than be ruled by the tyranny of lesser powers.
Titus 2:11-15
(11) For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
(12) Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
(13) Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
(14) Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
(15) These things speak, and exhort, and rebuke with all authority. Let no man despise thee.
