Parents have the responsibility to teach their children to honor God, and their parents, and those in authority (pastors, teachers, law enforcement, government, for instance). We can see what a world without respect is like, just by watching the news.
I have observed that children and young people who do not learn to treat others with respect and honor will probably never learn it. It is still possible, but highly unlikely. The longer a person goes, without humbly submitting to authority and the longer they go without honoring their elders, the harder it is for them to ever reach that level of maturity and purity. The longer people hold themselves as superior to others, the less likely they will ever attain to a godly humility.

I mentioned the responsibility of the parents AND the children ; teaching and learning. As a parent, you are not necessarily a failure when your children don't manifest what you have tried to teach them. It just means that you failed to get them to listen to God, which ultimately means that they are the failures.
