NO MORE CONVICTION

NO MORE CONVICTION
The old Christian song says,

Come every soul by sin oppressed,
There's mercy with the Lord.
And He will surely give your rest,
By trusting in His word.

The problem today is, very few people are oppressed by their sins. It is not that they have not sinned. It is not that they are not sinning. It is that they do not feel the weight of their guilt laying heavy on their hearts. They have been anesthetized to godly sorrow by the lie of false hope. Sadly, this is also true for people who have trusted in Christ, but have fallen from grace and have turned back to that which is sinful. Sin does not seem to be accompanied with conviction or shame or regret or repentance today.

It is not that God has not spoken to people about their sin and lost estate. But people have found another gospel, another Jesus, another Spirit (which are actually counterfeits that are being distributed by a fallen angel, parading as a light bearer). People reject the hard words of truth and accept the words that tickle their ears. They want redemption without bloodshed. They want newness of life without dying to the world, the flesh and the devil. They want to be saved, but they do not want to be conformed to the likeness of Jesus.

Sadly, there will be no real turning to God until there is a real turning from sin. I say sadly because people have bought into a feel good religion, rather than a life changing relationship with Jesus, which precludes guilt, guilt feelings, conviction, sorrow, shame and surrender to God.

(if you take the time, you can find the Scriptures which are reflected in this article.)
