(Rhetorically speaking) I have not figured out why God, through His grace, is able to keep a person from yielding to one temptation, but is not able to deliver from two temptations. Or, how He is able to deliver from two temptations, but not five... or ten or twenty-five. or whatever. After all, we only have to resist one temptation at a time. Could it be (with a knowing glint in my eye), that the person who does not resist temptation is not saved? Yep, that is exactly what it is, because, he that is born of God does not commit sin.
(I chose to use, "sinning" instead of, "sinful." I wanted to convey the idea of a life of sinning, not simply a life with sin in it, but a life of ongoing and unrestrained, or excused sin.)
1 John 2:29
(29) If ye know that he is righteous, ye know that every one that doeth righteousness is born of him.
1 John 3:9
(9) Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1 John 5:4
(4) For whatsoever is born of God overcomes the world: and this is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith.
1 John 5:18
(18) We know that whosoever is born of God sins not; but he that is begotten of God keeps himself, and that wicked one touches him not.
