AT ALL TIMES
I give thanks to God when especially good things happen and I think to myself, and even verbalize, "God is good." But I also realize that there is more to the statement. "God is good, all the time." I don't take this truth lightly and I choose not to be a fair weather Christian, by praising Him only when I like my pathway. It takes trust that God (in love and wisdom) does ALL things well. Still, it is good to give praise for Divine intervention that delivers us from evil, suffering and loss. Just don't allow yourself to miss God's hand in the darker moments of life.
I posted this because I praised the Lord for a blessing He is bestowing on a friend and his family. My post (above) has nothing to do with my friend, but only with my reflection concerning myself.
Actually, I think of this almost every time I give praise for the sunshine blessings. I also think about this when I am going through the stormy moments.
I want to always praise, even when the circumstances of life are not fun or easy. There are so many passages that address this point. Here is one passage.
2 Corinthians 4:16-18
(16) For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.
(17) For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;
(18) While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.
