WHEN CHRIST IS OUR LORD, WE ARE EASILY ENTREATED
(This covers some important terrain.)
Be careful when you hear or read people who attack the idea that Jesus is Lord or attack the idea that Christians recognize the Lordship of Christ over their lives.
Let's be clear, JESUS IS LORD, and it is impossible for a person to be a Christian unless he accepts, yields to the Lordship of Christ.
Now, it is also true that there are groups and movements and beliefs that use the term "Lord" in a way that is not consistent with Biblical truth. But denying Christ's Lordship of your life is your choice. Denouncing Christ's Lordship over your life is an excuse, a license to sin.
Simply, but accurately stated, Jesus is Lord, He is Master, He is King, He is God. This is the view and the commitment a person must have in order to enter into salvation and continue in salvation.
Romans 10:9-10
(9) That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus (that Jesus is Lord), and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
(10) For with the heart man believes unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
WHEN JESUS IS LORD
When Jesus is Lord of your life, your character, your demeanor, your worldview, your affections change. When Jesus is Lord, you live by a different code and answer to a higher voice.
One of the traits of being a true Christian is being EASILY ENTREATED, easily confronted, easily counseled. If you are not easily entreated, you are not in the Spirit and you may not be in the faith.
CAREFULLY READ THIS PASSAGE (in light of vs. 17).
James 3:8-18
(8) But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
(9) Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
(10) Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.
(11) Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?
(12) Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.
(13) Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
(14) But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.
(15) This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.
(16) For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
(17) But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.
(18) And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
No one should speak unless it is with grace. Actually, no thought should be developed, unless it is with grace.
Colossians 4:6
(6) Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
If you want to be lord of your own words, thoughts, actions, then you do not want to be a Christian.
No Christian has a right to enter into worship service with others if he is not accepting spiritual guidance and authority in his life.
If you cannot yield to your church leadership because it is corrupt or un-Biblical, then you should find a church that meets Biblical standards.
I hope you are all in church tomorrow, being part of the blessing, not the curse, being part of the healing, not the sickness, being part of the peace, not the confusion.
