THE PRICE OF LIGHT

THE PRICE OF LIGHT
The word, "Light," as used in Biblical and Christian parlance means, knowledge, truth, Christ, insight, wisdom. In other words, it refers to spiritual enlightenment. This spiritual enlightenment comes as a gift from God. We cannot generate this light or buy this light or earn this light. However, if we are going to be recipients of this light and if we are going to increase or advance in this light, then we will need to turn loose of the things that gender or render to darkness.

Light is costly. The cost is both in that which is evil and that which is good. To cling to evil is to reject light. Sometimes clinging to good things, but things that are not God's plan for us at the present time, keeps us from receiving more light. For Christians, it is not the clinging to evil that keeps us from growth in grace and knowledge, it is clinging to that which is good, when God is offering us that which is best.

This is the Biblical way of saying that there is a price to light.
James 4:17
(17) Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.

Advancement in grace, light, faith, is accompanied by advancement in the will of God. There are levels in understanding the will of God. The more "light" we have, the more excellently we will fulfill the will of God.
Romans 12:1-2
(1) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
(2) And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.
