STARTING WITH THE RIGHT STEPS

TWO SUGGESTED STEPS and EIGHT PASSAGES TO PONDER

* Don't treat anybody as a nobody, but treat everybody as a somebody.

Matthew 7:12
(12) Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.

Romans 12:16
(16) Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits.

Philippians 2:2-5
(2) Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
(3) Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
(4) Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
(5) Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

* Commend the commendable. In Revelation 2 & 3, Jesus sends letters to seven churches. In every letter, except one, He commended the people for their positive qualities. I have taken that as a principle to follow in my life. Give honest and sincere commendation to people, even if they do have glaring negative traits as well. We are not to be flattered, but we should be caring and encouraging.

This may feel strange or strained initially, but if you are sincere and honest about it, and you want to follow the example of Jesus, it will become natural to you.

OUR STEPS IN HIS STEPS...

Psalms 37:23-24
(23) The steps of a good man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way.
(24) Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

1 Peter 2:21-24
(21) For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
(22) Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:
(23) Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously:
(24) Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Job 23:10-12
(10) But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.
(11) My foot hath held his steps, his way have I kept, and not declined.
(12) Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.

Psalms 37:27-34
(27) Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
(28) For the LORD loveth judgment, and forsaketh not his saints; they are preserved for ever: but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
(29) The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
(30) The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment.
(31) The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.
(32) The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
(33) The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor condemn him when he is judged.
(34) Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

Psalms 85:13
(13) Righteousness shall go before him; and shall set us in the way of his steps.
